How To Add A Gif Image To Your Instagram Story?

Expand your Instagram Story with a cool gif image? That is possible from now on. We explain to you how you place a moving image in your story.

Add Instagram Stories Gif images

Are you an avid user of Instagram Stories? then you may have noticed: you can now also add gif images to your story. With Instagram Stories you share photos or videos of your day with all your Instagram contacts. Those stories are then visible for only 24 hours. In addition to text, stickers and other edits, you can now also add moving images to your Stories. Follow the steps below:

  1. Create a photo or video that you want to add to your Instagram Story. You can do this by swiping left in the main Instagram menu;
  2. Once the photo or video has been made or added, press the Sticker button at the top right. Then you get to see stickers for temperature, time and more;
  3. At the far left in the third row with stickers is a button with ‘poison’ on it. Press it, and you can choose a moving image. They come from the Giphy database, where you can find millions of gif images.

The new feature is currently being rolled out to all Instagram users. It may therefore be that this is not yet available on your smartphone. In that case you still have to wait a few days.

Stories have been part of Instagram for a year and a half now. Originally the photo service hoped to help lift the success of Snapchat, a messaging app built around photographs that disappear after 24 hours. Soon, however, Instagram attracted many more users, while Snapchat became less popular. Stories has since expanded with livestream, chat options and editing tools such as Superzoom and Remix.
