According to estimated data “Air traffic has increased more than 40% in last five years and approximately 20 million new passengers are added in the air traveling circle. As per the additional director of Civil Aviation Authority “the current surge in demand shows that the open skies policy has been fruitful for Pakistanis”. Growth rate of Pakistan aviation sector now increase to 9% per year and authorities are hopeful to have an increase in overall growth. As per the reports, the new airlines will cover these routes.

Development in cities like Gwadar, Skardu and Turbat due to the emergence of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) attracting new airline entrants to launch their airlines on these routes to facilitate business professionals. Obviously it’s a healthy for country’s economy.
The entry of new airlines will add fresh challenge for Pakistan International Airline (PIA). Public limited company is already facing huge crisis in terms of revenue generation and customer satisfaction as the foreign competitors like Emirates and Etihad giving tough time to PIA in foreign markets. On the contrary, PIA is not ready to accept the defeat. According to a senior official at PIA “Private airlines, especially foreign carriers, have mainly resorted to price cuts, instead of going more towards customer satisfaction in terms of comfort and improved services”.
From the point of view of airline passengers in Pakistan, it’s a good sign the new companies are starting their business all across the country. Healthy competition will surely deliver quality in service.
